Flag and banners for a beach wedding in Mexico

I love it when customers send me pictures of their weddings! This wedding was a nautical beach destination wedding in Mexico and I just love it- especially the fun attire for the men!

We made a flag with a cute red and white nautical knot print as well as simple thank you & mr & mrs banners.

As a reminder, we are not taking custom orders (flags, banners, etc) until the beginning of May. I may be able to take a couple more rush orders if they are placed this week. If you are interested, please contact me through the etsy shop.

Classic neutral wedding banners at the St Regis

I first met Tessa while helping plan her sister Kelsey’s wedding. I just love their family! When it came time for Tessa & Taylor to get married, I had sold my business and was no longer planning weddings. They kept with the Joyful Weddings & Events family though and had the wonderful Bre work on their wedding.

It is so special to me when I can still be a part of weddings, even though I am no longer a planner. After talking to Tessa about her design scheme, I made a “beloved” banner for their dessert table and matching mr & mrs signs for their chair backs. What a gorgeous couple!! All of the beautiful photos are by Matthew Morgan.

Bre & Kyle’s Placerville wedding

When I retired from wedding planning, it was such a blessing to be able to hand the company over to Bre, who had been working for me for a couple of years. During that time, she had become a dear friend and I couldn’t imagine anyone else taking over the business I had built.

Fast forward a year and  a half and I was back in my wedding planner shoes for a very special wedding: Bre’s! It was one of my favorite weddings I have ever had the opportunity to be a part of. Not only was it amazing because Bre is a great planner and made every single detail absolutely gorgeous, but it was so full of love. Love between Kyle & Bre, love for and from their families and you could truly see the love of God shining through on their day. It was an absolute joy to be a part of.

.

Yesterday, their wedding was featured on Style Me Pretty! The photos by Lane Dittoe are absolutely stunning- I’ve included a handful of my favorites here, but be sure to hop over to the feature to see everything. You can spot a few of my banners in there :)

.

Bre’s family made pretty much everything- the altar piece, the boutonnières, the napkins, the table runners, the pallet fence and even the dining tables! Bre’s mom & aunt started a vintage rental rental company the year before her wedding so they had tons of fun pieces!

.

Definitely one of my most favorite bouquets I’ve ever seen by the extremely talented Hannah of Modern Bouquet.

.

We had this grooms cake from Sweet & Saucy Shop in our car for the entire 10 hour drive. I have never been more nervous about how my husband was driving :)

My last photo shoot with Joyful Weddings: A gorgeous white wedding

A couple of weeks ago, Style Me Pretty featured a gorgeous white photo shoot that I had the privilege to be a part of. It was my last photo shoot as a part of Joyful Weddings & Events and it was wonderful to work with Bre along side of a stellar vendor team.

The inspiration was modern white lace mixed with floral paintings of Georgia O’Keeffe. Kristy of Momental Designs was the genius behind this and her hand-drawn designs on everything from the invite, to the table runner, to stripes of paper woven throughout the floral designs were absolutely beautiful. You can see the full post here and the gallery here.

Here is the inspiration board Kristy put together that started our designing and planning:

InstaFriday!

It’s been a fun week!

.

Linking up with LifeRearranged to share snaps of my week, captured on my phone.

.

This past saturday was my last official wedding as a wedding planner. For those of you that don’t know, I used to own Joyful Weddings & Events but sold it to one of my planners (and friends) Bre when Hudson came along. You can read more about that here.

.

The wedding was wonderful! The bride was actually an old friend, so I got to see a bunch of people I hadn’t seen in a decade and a half. Everything was beautiful and seamless, so it was a great way to go out. It was definitely bittersweet- I do miss it, but it has been such a good move for our family that I don’t regret leaving it one bit.

.

My  niece grabbed this picture of me in my last minutes of wedding planner-ness.

.

I’ve had such a great team working with me over the years. Thank you to all of my wonderful assistants who have worked so hard! This lovely lady, especially, has been by my side through the whole adventure. Darcie- thanks for being my right hand woman!

.

The wedding was full of adorable crafty details. The bride’s mom sewed up a storm, including these super cute runners. I can’t wait to share the full wedding once the professional photos are ready!

.

.

When I got home from my wedding in the middle of the night, my husband had this waiting for me:

.

The note says, “thanks for being so good at wedding planning. And thanks for giving it up for our family. i love you”. I LOVE THAT MAN! I had held it together for most of the day, but when I saw that the tears started flowing. He has been so amazingly supportive throughout my career and this process of letting it go and I am so incredibly thankful for him.

.

We got to go on a date night to celebrate- which was amazing and SO needed! We are big Mario Batali restaurant fans- have been to almost all of them in Las Vegas and New York- and so we were really excited to check out Pizzeria Mozza, his Newport Beach restaurant. It did not disappoint! So tasty!

.

We read through The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe with Isaiah over the past couple of weeks. He loved it, but I think I loved it more :)

.

I love my boys! This was at our picnic at the park- working away on that summer list!

.

My sister got tickets to So You Think You Can Dance, so we girls got all dressed up, drove up to LA and got in line to get in. We were so excited!

.

Then they cut off the line 6 people ahead of us :(

.

So sad! We made the best of it and had a girls night at the grove- some great sister time. And we will get to go to a show later in the year for sure, so it will all work out :)

.

I love that my parents saved a ton of my childhood toys. It brings me so much joy seeing my boys playing with the same toys I played with for years. I need to remember this when I am cleaning out my boys closets and purging their toys.

.

Have a great weekend everyone! I am looking forward to a mellow weekend spending time with my 3 cute guys.

A metallic wedding

When I send off our custom flags, I often never get to see the weddings they end up in. Every once in a while, the bride will send me photos. Then sometimes, I stumble upon the weddings on a blog and get so thrilled to see my products in action!

Earlier this year, I received a unique request for a flag- all metallics, which I had never done before. I loved how it turned out- silver glitter paper with gold accents. Still in our simple, clean style, so it was not gaudy or over the top.

I loved this wedding! Totally different & lovely! It was featured on Wedding Chicks. You can see more of the wedding here.

All photos by Wildflowers Photography. Full vendor list available on the Wedding Chicks post.

InstaFriday

It’s the first day of summer for Isaiah, so it is an exciting Friday over here :)  I am linking up with the lovely Jeannett of LifeRearranged to chronicle my week through moments big and small, all caught on instagram on my phone (I’m CourtToney if you want to follow me).

On Tuesday, I showed a bit of the wedding we attended in Placerville last weekend. Bre, the gorgeous bride, is the wonderful wedding planner that bought my wedding planning company last year. It was such an honor to be able to coordinate her wedding for her so that she could be a bride :) Here are a few pics from her wedding date. Once the professional photos are in, I’ll be sure to share all of the details!

.

It was one of the most incredible weddings I have ever been a part of. Not only was every detail gorgeous and well thought out, but it was just dreamy. At her parents house on a lake, full of close family and friends with love you could feel. It was God-glorifying and full of joy. I am so so happy for Kyle & Bre!

.

After the wedding festivities, the hubs & I headed out to South Lake Tahoe for a night to have a little vacay before heading back to the boys. It was SO needed and SO fun!

.

We hiked to Eagle Falls- it was a perfectly clear day and was gorgeous.

.

Our feet hanging out at the top of the waterfall.

.

Our time away was awesome, but we were excited to get home to our kiddos. Hudson got himself soaked right before dinner playing with his water table. I love his “ya- what are you going to do about it when I give you these eyes” look.

Hooray for summertime!

.

We got our first ice cream cones of the summer. Hudson has officially discovered ice cream and is SO into it :)

.

We paid off one of our cars this week. That was exciting.

.

Isaiah finished preschool yesterday. I love this look at how he has grown this year. First day of school & the last day of school:

We are making our summer bucket list this weekend and cannot wait to get started! Happy weekend everyone!

Banners for a Nautical Carlsbad Wedding

I don’t get to see photos of my handcrafted items purchased by brides very often. Every once in a while, a past customer will send me photos of their purchases in use on their wedding day and I love it!

I also love it when I happen upon my designs used in a wedding when I see them featured on a blog. That happened today, when I saw that Mark & Laura’s nautical Carlsbad wedding was featured on Style Me Pretty! Laura had me make three custom banners, all reflecting their clean, modern beach wedding design. She wanted simple navy squares with white writing.

Here is their thank you banner:

A “sweet love” banner for the cake table:

I also made the longest banner I’ve ever created to date. It said, “if you want to know how great my love is, count the waves”. Isn’t that a perfect quote for a beach wedding? I love it! I could not find any photos of the banner in action, but you can see the same quote on their cocktail napkins.

My friend Lori from Paper & Thread created their beautiful invitations and day of paper goods. She is amazing!

It was also fun to see my thank you banner shown again on the thank you notes that Lori created:

You can see their entire wedding over at Style Me Pretty, with photos by Greg Thompson Photography. Here a couple more of my favorites, including some of the cutest bridesmaid dresses I’ve ever seen!

Remember that time when I was on an infomercial?

This is definitely a first.

I am in an infomercial.

Yep.

The good people at ProvoCraft asked if I would be willing to do a short demo and wedding table set up for an infomercial for the new cricut mini. After saying, “Are you serious?”, I jumped on board right away.

It was such a fun and interesting experience. The film crew was amazing- I can definitely get used to being called “the talent” and having a hair & makeup stylist and a wardrobe stylist making sure I look up to par.

Keep an eye out for the infomercial- I don’t have exact times and channels that it will air, but it is all over the place. If you are flipping channels and see the cricut on TV, chances are that is it :) My segment is about 6 1/2  minutes in.

You can also see the whole 28 minute spot on YouTube here.

Here is a look at the DIY project I (very quickly) demonstrated.

That lace backdrop is made out of 7 1/2″ paper squares, cut on the cricut mini and joined together with wire loops. It would look super cute as a photo booth backdrop or behind a cake or dessert display. As I say in the infomercial, “there really are endless possibilities”. Ha! :)

I also designed details for two different wedding reception tables using the cricut. Table numbers, chairbacks, escort cards, menus, vase wraps, etc.

I also made some fun details for a trio of cakes: wraps for the tiers of the main cake (yes- they are paper!), a monogram topper, mini bunting for another cake and I cut a stencil and then stenciled on the monogram in edible glitter on the third cake.

Add in some labels, a flag and banner and you have a wedding infomercial set! Disclaimer for my designer/planner friends: I cannot take credit for the napkins in glasses, overlays or chair sashes :)

My husband laughed for a good 5 minutes at, what he called, my “infomercial voice”. It is pretty funny.

Thanks to ProvoCraft and Raymond Entertainment for having me be a part of it. It was an honor!

Vintage Hollywood Glam Photoshoot

I was thrilled to be a part of a beautiful black, white and gold vintage hollywood themed photo shoot a few months back. Photographer Ashley Bee asked if I would like to donate a banner to the shoot, which would also be given away to a lucky bride. My gold lace mr & mrs banner was a perfect fit and it was so fun to see how the shoot turned out. Everything is gorgeous! You can see more photos and details on 100 Layer Cake.

A couple more looks at the banner:

Thanks Ashley for the beautiful photos!
